You’ve probably noticed by now …
If you’re a regular Executive Pastor Online visitor, you’ve noticed that my last several posts have been various “documents” from my resources page. Only, instead of the “static” PDF file format I’ve posted over the years, I’ve begun the process of transferring this Management System content to actual post content.
What’s the advantage? Well, there are several:
- It’s searchable – Making the content of the Management System “live” as posts or pages makes it searchable. As a PDF, aside from maybe the file name, doing a search won’t find any of the content. If I’m a new staff member and I need to know the church’s vacation policy, I’m going to search on “vacation” not “Staff Policy Manual,” which contains the vacation policy.
- It’s “highly available” – If our Management System content is “web content,” I can access it from anywhere. I can use all of my web enabled devices to access everything I need to know from anywhere, anytime.
- It’s linkable – As live web content a Job Description or Policy Manual can contain links to other stuff in the system. For example, if my Job Descriptions contain “staff designations” or other organizational structure or compensation grades, etc., I can make these links to other areas of the Management System that has this content explained or otherwise available. I can also use some kind of “hover over” add on to define key terms for the user.
The real benefit of a Management System is that it enables leaders to establish “best practices” for all aspects of the ministry, document them in policies and procedures, and make them available to new staff and others who need to know how something is to be done. You know, leveraging the knowledge, expertise, and leadership ability of the key leaders in the organization.
Implementing the Management System online with all of it’s content in the form of posts, pages, and electronic forms is the best way to create the tools the organization needs to function efficiently and productively.
So, I’m now actively engaged in creation of the “CCV Management System.” Check it out HERE. You’ll be able to read the welcome on the home page, but will need a login to read any of the content. Not to worry, most, if not all, of the content will make it to Executive Pastor Online with a little editing here and there.
